Sgt. Maria Hawke says the bail agents called police to ask for help apprehending a group of fugitives they had been following on Tuesday evening. Before police arrived they pulled into a Walmart parking lot and a man ran away.

Two men and woman were detained. Store security officers told police a man matching the description of the man who ran away was in the store but heading out the back exit.

Officers were searching the parking lot when they spotted the man, who had a handgun. Hawke says he refused to drop the gun and an officer shot him. The 26-year-old died at a hospital.
